Who We Are

South Texans for Reproductive Justice (STRJ) is a BIPOC, queer-led, volunteer-run organization that came together in 2013 as Texas abortion clinics faced targeted political attacks. We officially launched in 2014 and received our 501(c)3 non-profit status in 2019. STRJ is based in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) on the Texas-Mexico border. We currently serve 32 counties in South Texas.

STRJ founded the clinic escort program at the now-closed abortion clinic in McAllen through some of the most aggressive anti-abortion protests in the state. They held large rallies to counter the annual March for Life held in the RGV. Today, STRJ continues to advocate for reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, and access to reproductive healthcare in the Rio Grande Valley.

OUR LOGO

The Great Kiskadee is native from South Texas all the way down to Argentina. It’s a noisy bird with attitude. Kiskadees were always flying around at the clinic and quickly became our mascot.

OUR MISSION

South Texans for Reproductive Justice advocates for reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, and access to reproductive health care. By hosting community events, civic engagement, practical support, and educational outreach, South Texans for Reproductive Justice seeks to eradicate all forms of restrictions to reproductive rights.
